A family-friendly remodel of a 3-story apartment building in Queens, New York City.

Located in Woodside, Queens, the project entailed the substantial retrofit of a type of early 1960’s 3-flat brick building that is ubiquitous across Western Queens. The client - a brother and sister who are second generation owners of the building – sought to renovate the existing apartments in the building for their young families. The interior scope included layout changes to create more open living spaces, new kitchens, and new bathrooms. The building had never previously been renovated and was in need of MEP upgrades, a new roof, as well as repair of a moisture damaged façade (brick repointing and lintel replacement). Thermal envelope improvements were made to improve energy efficiency. Future phases of work will include solar PV install and landscape improvements.
