Skopelos Passive House
A Passive House retrofit and gut renovation on the Greek island of Skopelos built in three and a half months.
The townhouse is 800 SF spread over 3 levels in the old part of town. Originally built in the 1890s, seeing it’s first addition and renovation in the 1970s, the brief was to fully modernize and retrofit the house to meet Passive House standard while retaining the charm and architectural character of traditional homes on the island. Featured in the New York Times in early 2025, the project was characterized as “challenging” due to the many physical and technical constraints that were eventually overcome. Materials were carefully selected that have low global warming potential and provide a healthy interior environment.
